Safeguarding God's Children

St. Mark's Episcopal Church (Grand Rapids) will offer a Safeguarding God's Children Training on Saturday, Nov. 23rd from 9 am - 12 noon. This training is required by the diocese and national church for any employee or volunteer within the Episcopal Church that works or interacts with children. These might include, but are not limited to, Sunday School teachers, choir directors, acolyte trainers, nursery volunteers, and youth leaders. It's also required for all paid personnel within the diocese and all members of church leadership (vestry members, wardens and those who serve on Diocesan committees), even if they don't often interact with children. The church recommends that volunteers and staff retake this training every three years.
