The Reverend David Blank, Interim Rector

Hello and welcome!
Father (or Pastor) David is a native of Western Pennsylvania. He graduated from Thiel College in northwestern PA and the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Gettysburg, PA. In 2023 he celebrated the 40th anniversary of his ordination.

To date, Father Dave has served a total of 12 congregations, in northwestern Pennsylvania, upstate New York, and western Michigan, as well as at a senior care facility. His commitment to establishing ecumenical and intra-denominational partnerships has called him to serve in United Methodist, United Church of Christ, Presbyterian PCUSA, and Episcopal congregations. His recent interim ministry roles include shared ministry at our partner St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Grand Rapids, as well as at St. David’s Episcopal Church in Lansing.

Outside of pastoral service, Father Dave is an award-winning amateur winemaker and carries on a family hobby of repairing pre-war tintype Lionel trains. He enjoys cooking, gardening, history, traveling and guitar music.

Father Dave is married to Judith Cole Blank from Buffalo, NY, a Registered Nurse and gifted artist. He has three sons (Jonathan, Nathaniel and Ryan), one daughter-in-law (Kristin), and four grandsons (Felix, Theo, Sebastian, and Winston).

He is delighted to be in ministry together with the family at St. Marks - celebrating and sharing God’s love in Christ for all people. No exceptions!
