The Reverend Jan Gockerman, Deacon

The Reverend Jan Gockerman has been a member of St. Mark's for almost 40 years and was ordained to the diaconate in 2018. As a deacon, her call is to bring the needs of the world to the congregation and lead the church members out into the world to care for those in need.

She also serves at St. Mark's Services and supports the lectors, assists the Rector as needed, and works with our Bishop on diocesan committees. Jan champions the Together West Michigan ministry, of which St. Mark's is a founding member; she is a member of the Outreach Committee and serves on the board of the Westminster Food Pantry. To her ministry, Jan brings skills in community organizing, restorative justice, mediation, conflict resolution and guiding discernment.
She holds a B.S. degree from the University of Michigan, Master’s degree in Management from Aquinas College, a Master’s Certificate in Restorative Justice from Fresno Pacific University and a Certificate in Theological Studies from the Academy for Vocational Leadership, a program of the Seminary of the Southwest. She also has 40 years of experience in healthcare administration.
